€6.4 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot Claimed as Co Cavan Ticket Holder Comes Forward
After more than a month of waiting, the winner of a €6.4 million Irish Lotto prize has finally come forward and presented their ticket to National Lottery officials. It had been feared that the lucky lottery player was going to miss out on their prize, but fortunately a claim was made before the 90-day deadline elapsed.
The winner’s claim was confirmed by a National Lottery spokesperson, who stated that arrangements were already being made for the ticket holder to collect their winnings from the organisation’s headquarters in Dublin. The successful Quick Pick entry, which correctly matched the numbers 7, 16, 18, 20, 24, 37 in the draw on Wednesday 5th July, was bought on Sunday 2nd July at Argue’s Londis Store in Cootehill, Co Cavan.
Jim Argue, the owner of the store responsible for selling the winning entry, confirmed that the win has been greeted positively throughout the local area: “The whole town is absolutely buzzing, there’s great excitement locally as people wake up to news that there’s been a huge Lotto win in the town,” he told reporters.
Despite the good feeling coursing through the veins of the townsfolk, Jim maintained that he had no clue as to the identity of the fortuitous individual: "The store is on a busy road and we do get a lot of passing trade so we don't know if it was sold to someone locally or someone passing through but best wishes to whoever won it.”
Irish Lotto ticket holders are reminded that they have 90 days from the date of the draw to claim any prize. If you think that you could be missing out on a substantial sum, head to the Unclaimed Prizes page before it’s too late.
If you are still waiting for your first jackpot win, do not despair, as this Wednesday’s top prize of €7.5 million is just waiting to be landed. For your chance to add this hefty sum to your bank account, simply pick your numbers online or play through any authorised retailer. Good luck!
