Another Rollover for the Irish Lottery

Another Rollover for the Irish Lottery

On Saturday night the second Irish Lottery draw of the week took place and many players were hoping to match all six of the numbers drawn to win the top prize on offer. However, the results from this draw show that it is yet again another rollover for the Irish Lottery, meaning that this current jackpot has rolled over a total of six times and is now worth an estimated €5.5 million. 2012 is yet to have any top prize winners, so it will be interesting to see if any players can strike lucky and win the jackpot in Wednesday night's draw.

The last time the Irish Lottery jackpot was won was on the last draw of 2011 (31st December) when one winning ticket, bought in the Mid-West, took home just over €4.1 million. Since then no players have matched all six of the main numbers drawn, allowing for the jackpot to rollover and increase in value.

In Saturday night’s draw there were no players that matched five numbers along with the Bonus Ball to win the second tier guaranteed prize of €25,000, and this is the second draw in a row where there have been no second tier prize winners. The first winning tier on Saturday night was the match 5 tier, which saw 49 ticket holders each win €1,644.

Although rollovers are common in this lottery, players normally match the Irish Lottery results and win the jackpot before it surpasses the €5 million mark, however this is now not the case. If you like the sound of becoming the first Irish Lottery jackpot winner of this year, have your tickets ready for the mid-week draw on Wednesday night and you never know you could wake up on Thursday morning a jackpot winner.
