Cash-Filled Christmas for Irish Lotto Family Who Scooped €100,000
A family from Cork is making big plans for Christmas and college after scooping just over €100,000 with a Quick Pick Irish Lotto ticket that they almost forgot about.
The Christmas celebrations have started early for one Cork family after they matched five numbers plus the Bonus Ball in the Wednesday, 30th November Irish Lotto draw. Despite scooping the second-biggest prize the game has to offer, however, the father didn’t remember to check the family’s numbers until sometime later.
“I had the ticket in my wallet for nearly a week before we checked it,” the father said. “When I had it checked in the shop, I was still unsure of how much we had won. We called the National Lottery and I thought I might have won just over a thousand euro and I could collect the prize in the local post office — we just could not believe it when we were told we had won over €100,000!”
The lucky family plans to use their newfound fortune for Christmas and to pay college fees, with this year’s festivities set to be extra big.
“We’re going to have an amazing Christmas and, for once, not worry about the money,” said the ecstatic mother of their Lotto win. “After that, all of the money will be set aside for the kids for their college expenses over the next couple of years.”
Although there was no jackpot winner in the draw, there was one other player who managed to match five numbers and the Bonus Ball to pick up €101,957. Tonight’s estimated Irish Lotto jackpot currently stands at a whopping €4 million, with in-store ticket sales set to close at 7:45pm, and syndicate ticket sales a little earlier.
