Christmas Millionaire Raffle Winner Misses Out On Prize
A Cork player has missed out on a €1 million prize from the Christmas Millionaire Raffle after failing to come forward before Friday’s deadline. They had needed to get in touch with Irish National Lottery officials by the end of the last working week, but a series of late appeals for everyone to check their tickets eventually proved fruitless.
The 2016 Christmas Millionaire Raffle took place on 31st December and gave away 3,176 prizes, ranging from €500 to €1 million. The ticket number 179740 was drawn as the winner of the seven-figure award, and it was revealed that the ticket was bought at the Topaz Service Station on Lower Tivoli Road on 21st December.
All Irish winners have 90 days to claim prizes, otherwise the money goes back to the National Lottery to fund promotions for its games. Officials travelled to Cork last week to try and raise awareness, but the winner did not come forward. See the Unclaimed Prizes page for information on other Irish Lottery awards that have yet to be snapped up.
While time has now run out for the Cork player, the search is now on for a player from Connemara who scooped the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000 in Friday’s draw. The lucky quick-pick ticket was sold at Siopa Dowd filling station in Carna the day before the draw.
There will be more great chances to win prizes this week, both on Irish Lotto and EuroMillions. You can choose your numbers online or visit an authorised retailer, before using the Irish Lottery Checker to see if you are due a prize. Good luck!
