Cork Player Yet To Claim €1 Million Raffle Prize
A lucky player from Cork has claimed a €500,000 Irish Lotto prize after winning the jackpot in the Plus 1 game on Saturday night, but the hunt is still on for the ticket holder from the city who snared €1 million in the Christmas Millionaire Raffle.
The Christmas Millionaire Raffle, held annually on New Year’s Eve, guaranteed 3,176 prizes. The top award, worth €1 million, was won by a participant from Cork, who bought their ticket at the Topaz Service Station on Lower Tivoli Road. However, they have yet to claim the money and must come forward within 90 days of the draw before the prize expires.
One player who has come forward is the winner of Saturday’s Irish Lotto Plus 1 jackpot, who purchased their ticket at Singleton’s Centra shop in Gurranabraher. It is understood that the ticket belongs to a local man who is part of a syndicate of four, and shop owner Adrian Singleton has welcomed the news.
“The whole place has been buzzing with rumours,” Singleton told the Irish Examiner. We believe it’s someone local alright and we’re delighted for them. We were all talking last week about what you could do if you won the €88m in the Euromillions. But this is a lovely amount to win — it’s very manageable. It will set them up nicely.”
There had also been speculation that the winning €88.5 million ticket from last week’s EuroMillions draw had been sold in Cork, before it was confirmed that the winning store was actually the Applegreen service station in Lusk, Dublin.
There will be more chances for Irish lottery fans to win big prizes this week, with tonight’s Irish Lotto jackpot up to €7 million and the top prize for Friday’s EuroMillions worth €17 million after a Spanish player won €25.8 million last night. Tickets can be bought online or from authorised retailers. Good luck!
