EuroMillions Fans Eagerly Await €130 Million September Superdraw
Excitement is growing across Ireland after it was announced that a EuroMillions Superdraw will take place on Friday 15th September. This will be the second time this year that lottery fans have been treated to a Superdraw event following June’s draw which resulting in a UK ticket holder landing a €100 million reward.
Superdraws were first introduced to EuroMillions in February 2007, when a guaranteed jackpot of €100 million was offered to any player able to defy odds and match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars. The first prize was claimed on the night by an anonymous ticket holder from Belgium. Since then, there have been a total of 18 Superdraws, each offering an impressive nine-figure jackpot.
Superdraws are held at random times throughout the year and occur when there is an excess amount of money in the EuroMillions Booster Fund. This cash pool receives 4.8 percent of the Common Prize Fund from every draw and steadily builds month after month. This will be the fourth Superdraw to be held in the month of September, a figure that draws the autumnal period level with June and March, both of which can also boast a quartet of Superdraws.
A player from the Emerald Isle has never won a Superdraw jackpot on the initial night of the event, but a ticket holder from the country has successfully landed a prize that has come as the result of a Superdraw. This occurred in June 2013, when a five-rollover €187.9 million jackpot was shared between two players from Ireland and Belgium. The UK currently leads the way with six wins from Superdraws, closely followed by Spain (four) and Belgium, France and Portugal (all three). However, September’s Superdraw provides Irish players with the ideal chance to close the gap.
With such a gigantic sum of money on offer, it is little wonder that some of EuroMillions’ biggest ever prizes have occurred as a result of Superdraws. On Friday 3rd October 2014, the game’s joint-largest prize was won by a Portuguese player after the jackpot had rolled over following a special draw.
The Superdraw is still a number of weeks away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t test your luck ahead of the main event. This Friday’s jackpot is worth a colossal €35 million, and to be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is pick your numbers online or play via any authorised retailer throughout the country. Good luck!
