EuroMillions Megadraw To Offer €200 Million Jackpot
A EuroMillions Megadraw will take place on Friday 1st December, offering a jackpot worth €200 million. If there is a winner from Ireland, it would be the biggest prize to ever be paid out in the Emerald Isle.
Megadraws are special events when the jackpot is boosted to at least €130 million - and on this occasion far more - using money from a reserve fund. This fund is primarily in place to ensure that the minimum jackpot of €17 million can always be covered, but when it builds up it can also be used for special promotions.
When a Megadraw is held, it gives you the chance to play for a gigantic jackpot without having to wait for a long run of rollovers. If nobody wins on Friday, an even larger amount will be made available in the following draw. The jackpot could even go on to reach its €240 million cap.
Biggest Wins in Ireland
There have been 19 jackpots won in Ireland in the 19 years that EuroMillions has been running. There hasn’t been one yet in 2023, so it could be that a big win is just around the corner.
The largest win ever achieved in Ireland dates back to February 2019, when a family syndicate from The Naul in Co Dublin scooped €175 million. They came forward quickly, amid mass excitement and speculation across the country, and decided to stay anonymous. They revealed that they had hidden the winning ticket in an Argos catalogue under a mattress before they claimed the money.
Part-time cleaner Dolores McNamara had previously held the Irish record for almost 14 years, having won €115 million in July 2005. This was the biggest win in EuroMillions history at the time, and McNamara had big plans for her newfound wealth. She visited several countries within the first few months, spent €3.5 million on Lough Derg Hall in Co Clare and bought houses for all six of her children.
More recently, Ireland has only had one jackpot win in the last three years - a ticket holder from Munster who claimed €30 million in February 2022.
A winner on Friday would not only become Ireland’s biggest of all time, but also one of the country’s wealthiest individuals. Get involved now and then check out the results as soon as they are available.
