EuroMillions Superdraw Jackpot Won and Supplementary Success for Ireland
Friday’s EuroMillions Superdraw was successful in producing a winner at the first time of asking as a UK ticket holder walked away with the €100 million jackpot. The lucky player correctly matched the winning numbers 17, 35, 39, 47, 50 and Lucky Stars 6 and 8 to land one of the game’s biggest prizes of 2017.
This was the first Superdraw to take place since Friday 30th September 2016 and managed to produce the second biggest jackpot win of the year, behind a sum of €134.8 million claimed by a Belgian player on Friday 2nd June. In addition to the jackpot winner, there were a further 3,057,357 prize winners, each of whom secured rewards ranging from €5 for matching two numbers to €312,628 for correctly predicting five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars.
While the main draw’s top prize tiers produced little in the way of joy for Irish lottery lovers, there was plenty of success in the supplementary prize draws, with ten players each picking up €5,000 after matching one of the lucky Ireland Only Raffle codes. However, the biggest cheer of the night was saved for a player from rural Donegal who correctly matched the numbers 16, 17, 43, 47, 49 in the EuroMillions Plus draw to scoop €500,000. The ticket holder, who purchased their Quick Pick entry on the day of the draw from Whoriskey’s EuroSpar Store in Ramelton near Letterkenny, became the 14th player of 2017 to win the supplementary draw jackpot and the first person to prevail in the draw since Tuesday 13th June 2016.
This victory has sent excitement coursing through veins of the thousand-or-so residents of Ramelton, with the store from which the ticket was bought experiencing a very busy weekend as players flock in to check their tickets. John Whoriskey, the shop’s owner, described the situation as “unbelievable”, before informing reporters that he had no clue as to the identity of the winner: “The majority of our customers are local and there are also a lot of holiday homes in the area so who knows who it is?” The winner has 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.
If you would like to follow in the footsteps of this weekend’s big EuroMillions winners, you can pick your numbers online or play through any authorised retailer in Ireland ahead of this Tuesday’s guaranteed €17 million draw. And don’t forget to enter EuroMillions Plus for an extra chance to win big! Good luck!
