Huge EuroMillions Jackpots On Offer This September
It is set to be a bumper September for EuroMillions players after the jackpot climbed to €130 million ahead of the draw on Tuesday 3rd September, while a Superdraw has also been scheduled for later in the month.
The top prize has not been won since 26th July and now stands as one of the largest of the year. It could potentially go even higher, as the jackpot cap is set at €250 million. However, ticket holders across Europe will be hoping to get their hands on the cash at the earliest opportunity.
Even if the jackpot does get won soon, it is guaranteed to be increased to €130 million again for a Superdraw - or Megadraw - on Friday 27th September. These special events only happen a few times a year, and they are funded by a reserve pot which is kept aside to pay for special promotions every now and then.
The beauty of a Megadraw is that it does not take several weeks of the jackpot rolling over for it to get into nine figures. It will be raised to the advertised value even if it has just been won in the preceding draw.
This month’s huge jackpots also give players in Ireland the chance to join the country’s ranks of big winners. The largest prize ever won in the Emerald Isle was a €175.4 million jackpot that went to a family syndicate from The Naul in 2019, while second place belongs to Dolores McNamara. She won €115.4 million all the way back in July 2005.
Euphoria in EuroMillions Plus
You can also play EuroMillions Plus on top of EuroMillions to give you another chance to win. The odds of landing the €500,000 jackpot are far better than the odds for the main draw. What’s more, if multiple players win, they all receive €500,000 rather than it being split.
Two players matched all five numbers in the EuroMillions Plus draw on 23rd August - one from Galway and one from Dublin.
The Galway winner has already claimed their prize, even if it is still sinking in. They said: “I knew that I’d received an email to say that I had won but I just thought it’d be something small like €2 or €2.50. I logged into my account not really expecting to see anything mad and there it was in front of me - €500,000!
"I’m still in a bit of shock to be honest and I was even thinking that it had to be a joke or scam of some sort. Even though I have my cheque in hand now and I’ve counted all the zeroes, I’m not sure I quite believe it.
"I always said playing National Lottery games was my way of contributing to charity and Good Causes – never in a million years did I think that I would actually win big. It just comes to show that it really could be any of us!”
You can choose your EuroMillions numbers online ahead of every draw, and then keep an eye out for the latest results to see if you are a winner.
