Irish Lottery Results for Saturday 1st August 2015
A man from Co Mayo scooped the Irish Lotto jackpot of €6.3 million on Saturday night after buying his ticket from a shop owned by his brother-in-law! Shopkeeper Martin Murphy of Ballinrobe confirmed to the press that his he had sold the winning ticket to his wife’s brother Gerry Murphy, admitting that he was still in shock over the stroke of good fortune for the family.
The £6.3 million winning ticket is the third big-money lottery entry purchased from Murphy’s Newsagents, following an Irish Lotto win of IEP150,000 (€445,000) in 1989 and a €315,000 EuroMillions windfall last year. Martin revealed that the shop has been much busier since news of the win filtered out on Sunday.
The winning numbers were 3, 7, 11, 33, 37 and 42 with Bonus Ball 39 and, in addition to the lucky jackpot winner, three players matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to pocket €25,000 each. Other prizes won on the night ranged from the fixed award of €5 for matching three main numbers up to €1,205 for matching five main balls. Saturday’s Irish Lotto jackpot win followed a run of nine rollovers since a Co Limerick woman bagged €2 million. The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, admitted that if there hadn’t been a parking spot outside the shop, she might not have stopped and bought a Lotto ticket at all.
Wednesday’s jackpot will now be worth €2 million and Irish Lotto tickets are available online, wherever you are in the world, by visiting the Tickets page. You can also buy them at authorised retailers across Ireland, including Martin Murphy’s lucky store in Ballinrobe.
