Irish Lotto Player Scoops €12.8 Million Jackpot
One lucky ticket holder has become the first Irish Lotto jackpot winner of 2017 after matching all six main numbers in last night’s draw to scoop a sensational €12.8 million. The winning entry was sold in Dublin, and it is the largest prize to have given away since January 2016.
The numbers drawn were 2, 15, 19, 26, 37 and 38, with Bonus Ball 39. As well as the jackpot winner, a single participant picked up €179,034 after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, while there were over 48,000 players in total who won prizes. Visit the Irish Lotto Results page to find a full prize breakdown.
The Irish Lotto jackpot had not previously been won since a family from Co Cavan landed €4.5 million on Christmas Eve, and had grown to become one of the biggest prizes ever seen on the game. The record stands at €18.9 million, held by a syndicate from the Dan Morrissey Ltd quarry and concrete plant in Co Carlow who won their fortune back in 2008.
An Irish National Lottery spokesman has already confirmed that a claim has been made for the jackpot win, saying the ticket belonged to a syndicate. The group is now making arrangements to collect the money, and must decide whether to stay anonymous or go public with their story. As the nation waits to learn more, the jackpot will reset to €2 million for Saturday night’s draw. If you like the sound of becoming a millionaire, you can choose your numbers online or visit any authorised retailer in Ireland. Good luck!
