Irish Lotto Results for Wednesday 5th August 2015
The Irish Lotto draw on Wednesday 5th August came and went without a winner of the €2 million jackpot, but one lucky player landed €25,000 after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. There were over 24,000 ticket holders who had reason to celebrate after snapping up prizes, and the jackpot will now climb to €2.5 million for the next draw on Saturday.
The numbers drawn on the evening were 8, 9, 17, 33, 36 and 40 with Bonus Ball 15. As well as the single winner in the Match 5 + Bonus tier, there were also 17 participants who matched five main numbers to earn €2,594 each. The remaining prize winners picked up cash rewards ranging from €5 for matching three main numbers to €181 for matching four main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. You can find a full breakdown of what was won by checking out the Irish Lotto Results section, which also has the winning numbers for last night’s Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 games. Both supplementary draws produced thousands of winners, including one player in Lotto Plus 1 who matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to pocket €3,500 and a ticket holder in the same tier of Lotto Plus 2 who scooped €2,500.
There may not have been a jackpot winner last night, but the top prize was last gobbled up by one player on Saturday who instantly became €6.3 million richer after matching all six main numbers drawn. A shopkeeper from Ballinrobe in Co Mayo quickly revealed that he had sold the winning ticket to his wife’s brother, and Gerry Murphy has now come forward to collect his prize from National Lottery headquarters. Carpenter Gerry, who has played the same numbers for 25 years, said to the Irish Examiner: “I was always sure I was going to win. Even my mother said I was going to win one day.”
Gerry is not sure how he will spend his winnings, but he plans to start with a holiday and says he fully intends to ‘splash out’. If you fancy following in Gerry’s footsteps and landing a seven-figure windfall thanks to the Irish Lotto this Saturday, you will have to get hold of a ticket. You can enter online or by visiting any authorised retailer in Ireland, and it could just be that you win a life-changing sum of money. Best of luck!
