Irish Player Wins €88.5 Million EuroMillions Jackpot
An Irish player became the country’s tenth EuroMillions jackpot winner on Tuesday 24th January, scooping the €88.5 million jackpot. It was the first time the top prize had been pocketed in 2017 and was the result of seven rollovers since a Spanish player took home €22.2 million on Tuesday 27th December.
The lucky ticket holder matched the winning line 1, 5, 7, 17 and 23 with Lucky Stars 3 and 8, and has now come forward to claim their prize, according to an Irish National Lottery press release. The fortunate participant is the first Irish winner of the EuroMillions jackpot since a syndicate of Dublin Bus drivers scooped €23.8 million on Friday 1st July 2016.
Last year proved successful for the country when it came to the pan-European lottery, with another ticket holder from the country sharing a €132 million payday with a Belgian winner on 29th January. The biggest Irish EuroMillions win of all time came in 2005, when Limerick cleaner Dolores McNamara banked a whopping €115.4 million.
The full prize breakdown from last night’s draw is available on the Results page and any player who wins a prize, including the jackpot, on a physical ticket is advised to sign the back and store it in a safe, memorable place before claiming the cash.
The jackpot will reset to €17 million for Friday night’s draw and you can play EuroMillions online at the Tickets page, or pick up entries at authorised retailers in any participating nation.
