Irish Ticket Holder Scoops €15 Million EuroMillions Jackpot
One Irish ticket holder is soon to be a whole lot richer having scooped the €15 million jackpot in last night’s EuroMillions draw. The winning ticket matched all five main numbers (16, 18, 26, 38 and 44) and both Lucky Stars (8 and 10) to take home the coveted top prize.
Irish players have claimed just 2.1% of all EuroMillions jackpots, having secured only six top tier wins in the history of the game. There have been a total of 281 EuroMillions jackpots won since the lottery’s inception in 2004 and although Ireland has been responsible for just six of these, one of EuroMillions’ most memorable winners came from the city of Limerick.
Dolores McNamara landed a colossal €115 million jackpot in July of 2005 after nine successive rollovers lead to a supersized top prize. The mum-of-six won, what was at the time, the largest EuroMillions jackpot in history and agreed to collect her life-changing prize publically.
McNamara, who discovered her win while at the pub with friends, soon swapped pints of Guinness for flutes of champagne and is regularly in attendance at classy charity events and fund-raising galas.
Although the identity of the latest jackpot winner is not yet known, one thing is for certain; they’ve certainly got the luck of the Irish.
