‘It’s A Long Way To Tipperary’ For Lotto Plus 1 Winner
A lucky ticket holder who won the €500,000 top prize in Saturday’s Irish Lotto Plus 1 draw has shown that it is ‘a long way to Tipperary’ after admitting that when he found out about his success he nearly drove into a ditch on the journey home and had to stop to compose himself.
The winning player purchased his quick-pick ticket from Centra in Parkmore, Roscrea, Co Tipperary on the day of the draw. He was working late on Saturday but checked his phone before setting off home and found a message saying he had won.
He told the Sunday World: “I went absolutely numb, it was like an it was like an out-of-body experience. I got straight into my car and I almost drove into a ditch on the way home. I had to completely stop and compose myself if I was to get home in one piece.”
Having become the first winner of the Irish Lotto Plus 1 top prize since Saturday 28th January, the man from Tipperary is now looking forward to a bright future with his new wife. He added: “The timing of the win couldn't be more perfect. We have just been married and we only recently started looking for houses to buy. It is a great comfort knowing that we will be able to buy our dream house without a mortgage.”
Irish lottery winners have 90 days to come forward and claim any prizes, and time is running out for the player from Cork who matched the €1 million code in the Christmas Millionaire Raffle. They only have until 5.30pm on Friday 31st March to contact officials, otherwise they will miss out on the seven-figure windfall.
There will be more chances to win great prizes this weekend, with a fantastic EuroMillions jackpot of €58 million up for grabs on Friday and €6 million available in Saturday’s Irish Lotto. You can choose numbers online now or visit any authorised retailer in Ireland. Good luck!
