One Ticket Scoops €7 million Irish Lotto Jackpot
Following a tenth consecutive rollover, the Irish Lotto jackpot was finally won on Saturday night, with a lucky ticket holder from the North West of Ireland scooping a top prize worth €7.1 million. It is the fourth-biggest Irish Lotto win of 2014 and ended a five-week-wait for a winner. The last Irish Lotto jackpot win occurred on Wednesday 17th September when a 13-member syndicate won a €4.8 million top prize.
The winning ticket for last Saturday's draw was purchased from a Tesco store in Carrick-on-Shannon last Friday and speculation is rife in the town over the identity of the winner.
Store manager Liam Melody said, “People have been in and out of the store all day pranking us, pretending they won but all we know is that the ticket was sold on Friday.”
“Carrick is a tourism hub and there are lots of hen and stag parties every weekend so it could be anyone.”
The winning numbers for Saturday night's draw were 3, 5, 8, 15, 16 and 23 with Bonus Ball 43. There were significant wins for a further three players who matched five main balls and the Bonus Ball to scoop €25,000 each. There were also wins of €737 for 106 players matching all five main draw balls.
The remaining players won amounts worth between €5 for matching three main numbers and €180 for matching four main numbers and the Bonus Ball. In addition, one lucky player in the Irish Lotto Plus 2 draw bagged the top prize of €250,000. For a full breakdown of all the Irish Lotto draws from Saturday, visit the Results Page.
