Ticket Holder Lands €7.5 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot
One lucky Irish Lotto player is €7.5 million richer after securing the jackpot prize in Wednesday night’s draw. The ticket holder, who is yet to be identified, correctly matched the numbers 8, 10, 11, 25, 28 and 32 to land the sizeable seven-figure sum.
“We Are All So Excited”
The winning ticket was purchased from Eason in the Thurles Shopping Centre, Co Tipperary, ahead of the draw, news that has been greeted warmly by the store’s manager, Deirdre O’Toole. Speaking to the Irish Times, the proprietor expressed her delight: “We are all so excited for the lucky customer.”
However, despite speculation beginning to spread around the region, Deirdre claims she is unaware of who the winner could be: “We have no idea who it is – hopefully one of our regulars,” she said. “There’s a very local bunch of customers who buy lotto tickets here every week. Most are buying small amounts, though there are a few syndicates as well. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
This is the first time since Wednesday 13th September that the jackpot has been won, a run of 11 consecutive rollovers. The winner now has 90 days to come forward and collect their prize.
Further Success Across the Country
It wasn’t just the jackpot winner who had a stroke of good fortune in the draw. One ticket holder correctly matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball (35) to scoop a prize worth €54,356, while 28 players each helped themselves to €1,164 after matching five main numbers.
There were a further 36,639 prize winners, each of whom received rewards ranging from a €3 scratch card for matching two main numbers and the Bonus Ball to €152 for correctly predicting the outcome of four main numbers and the Bonus Ball.
