Two €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 Winners Claim Prizes
Two ticket holders who each won €250,000 in the same Lotto Plus 2 draw have both come forward to claim their prize. The two prizes were won on Wednesday 27th November 2013 and marked the first time in more than two years that there have been multiple top tier prize winners in the game.
The winning numbers from the draw were 8, 10, 15, 16, 19 and 23 with Bonus Ball 4 and both prize winners, who matched all six main numbers, chose their numbers using a combination of family birthdates.
Father of six Tomas Kieran from Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, was the first winner to claim his prize after checking his ticket in his local store the following Friday. “I have a routine of checking my Wednesday ticket in the shop on Friday,” Kieran told lottery officials. “I’d heard there was a big win locally… I really never thought it would be me! It’s a dream come true.”
Kieran purchased his €4 winning ticket from Birdy’s Newsagents on Main Street, Carrickmacross. This is the fourth time the store has sold a winning ticket and owner Colm Birdy is already noticing the effect of the latest news. “There’s a great buzz about the place,” he told local reporters. “People have already come in and bought a ticket off the back of the news, so the shop is on a bit of a lucky streak at the moment!”
The second winner was a man from Tramore, Co. Waterford, who has opted to remain anonymous. However, he did chat to lottery officials upon claiming his prize, and told them the win couldn’t have come at a better time as he was newly married. “I would like to buy a house with my new wife and possibly take a trip to America.”
He purchased his €8 winning ticket from Cahills on Main Street in Tramore, making this the third winning Lotto ticket the store has sold.
The next Irish Lotto draw takes place tonight with an estimated jackpot of €3.5 million and the Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws will be held shortly afterwards. Lotto Plus 1 has a top prize of €350,000 while there is €250,000 to be won on Lotto Plus 2.
