Woman Discovers Irish Lotto Win While Cleaning Her Car
A woman who won €117,023 in the Irish Lotto draw on Saturday 16th July has come forward to claim her prize - but not before nearly binning the lucky ticket as she was cleaning out her car. The lucky lady from Dublin matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to grab the six-figure windfall, but only sheer luck prevented her from losing out on the ability to claim.
Recounting her story to Irish National Lottery officials, the woman described herself as a “long-time Lotto player” who preferred to buy Quick Pick entries, but then never checked them unless she heard news about a winner local to her area. On Sunday, she had been cleaning her car and noticed the ticket wedged between the front seats. She went into the shop to check the entry, where she was told that she had won a massive prize.
The winner, who has opted to remain anonymous, says that she will now be far more vigilant about checking her tickets. “I would urge every Lottery player in the country to constantly check their tickets,” she said. “Just because a big jackpot isn’t won in your area, it could still be worth a lot of money, I am living proof of that.”
Apart from the jackpot, there are always great prizes up for grabs on Irish Lotto, with rewards starting from a €3 scratchcard for matching two main numbers and the Bonus Ball up to an estimated €100,000 for matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball. As with the jackpot, these prizes will expire 90 days after the relevant draw if no one claims them, so it’s always a good idea to keep on top of those tickets!
If you’d like to put yourself in the running for tonight’s €5.5 million Irish Lotto jackpot, you can buy tickets online or purchase entries from any authorised retailer in the Republic. Just remember to keep your physical tickets in a safe (and memorable) place, and to check them as soon as possible to avoid missing out on your chance to receive a giant cheque. Good luck!
