Woman Finds Irish Lotto Ticket Worth €139,025 After Two Weeks
An Irish Lotto player is €139,025 richer after finding a winning ticket in her handbag. The woman from Kilkenny had been carrying the winning play slip with her for two weeks before she finally discovered that she was due the sizeable reward.
The woman, who has opted to remain anonymous, purchased the ticket for the draw on Saturday 6th August, but did not realise that she had won a six-figure sum for correctly matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball. Speaking to National Lottery officials after collecting her prize, the woman claimed that it was only by chance that she came across the ticket: “My handbag was bulging and I decided to clear the load yesterday. There were a few Lotto tickets in there. I’d just seen the news that the big jackpot was won in Leitrim but I thought, sure you never know, there might be a few quid on these.”
News of the win came as quite a shock to the woman: “I checked the tickets on the scanner in the shop and was surprised when I got a message to contact the National Lottery. When I found out how much I won, I was absolutely delighted,” she exclaimed. The Quick Pick entry was purchased in Dunnes Stores, MacDonagh Station in Co Kilkenny on the day of the draw, something the winner clearly recalls: “I remember buying my ticket that day – I thought to myself that I was due a bit of luck. Someone must have been listening!” When quizzed on how she would spend the money, the woman said that she was planning to spoil her family with her newfound windfall.
Tonight’s jackpot is worth a guaranteed €2 million, a total that no player would want to miss out on. Irish Lotto tickets can be purchased online and from all authorised retailers across the country. Good luck, and don’t forget to check those tickets!
