Limerick Couple Claim €113,661 Irish Lotto Win
A couple from Newcastle West in Co Limerick have come forward to claim their €113,661 Irish Lotto prize nearly a month after the winning draw. They matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball on Saturday 18th June after purchasing a Quick Pick ticket from a service station in the town on the day of the game.
The husband told lottery officials that they had gone to the shop ‘specifically to play the Lotto’ on the Saturday, but realised as they walked out that they had forgotten to buy their tickets. As he went back in for the Quick Pick, he said that he knew that the entry would be a winner.
‘The timing of this win is absolutely perfect,’ said the husband. ‘We have some bills that we would like to pay off and after that I think we might have a holiday and maybe we will upgrade our car.’ The pair from Limerick held one of two tickets to win a Match 5 + Bonus prize in that draw; the other winning entry was sold in Dublin to a couple who have matched at least five main numbers on Irish Lotto a whopping five times.
They weren’t the only people making a visit to the National Lottery offices this week thanks to Ireland’s flagship game. A family from Co Laois scooped the Lotto Plus 1 jackpot in the draw on Wednesday 29th June and have just now claimed their life-changing €500,000 windfall. The group decided to remain anonymous as well, but did tell lottery officials that they would have a family gathering to celebrate the win, after which they would decide what to do next.
The Irish Lotto jackpot is worth an estimated €5 million in advance of tonight’s game, with tickets available online or from authorised retailers. If you’re near Newcastle West in Co Limerick, you might want to visit the same service station as these winners did to see if the luck rubs off on you!
